CHURCH OF THE ST. APOSTLES SIMON AND JUDUS THAD IN LIOLIAI

Church

This is - one of the oldest wooden churches in the country. Standing on the highest hill in the village Lioliai. The first church in the village of Lioliai was built in 1522. The new wooden church in 1768 wad restored, built a tower. The church has a unique baroque architecture, luxurious interior, rich in authentic eighteenth-nineteenth century monuments. Inside the church a valuable end of 18’th century created the high altar. Altars are decorated with eighteenth century end sculptures created pairs: the bottom - St. And St. Casimir and Stanislaus, above - the first Christian martyr. Stephen and St. Lawrence and the upper stage - St. Simon and St. Jude Thaddeus, which is dedicated in honor of the church, sculpture. The Church has 6 altars, however, unique in the central altar in St. Virgin Mary, prisoners guardians painting.
