FRAGMENTS OF THE ŠILO PAVĖŽUPIS MANOR

Nature

The first news about Šilo Pavėžupis manor dates back to the 16th century. In his 1575 geographical dictionary, I. Sprogis mentions the Šilo manor by the Vėžupis stream. Later, the area was called by both names. In the middle of the 18th century, the nobility of Šilo Pavėžupis, Radavičiūtė, was married to Petras Putvinskis. The Putvinskis ruled the manor until nationalization. In 1944, Šilo Pavėžupis found himself on the front line. Many outbuildings burned down. The Putvinskiai house was destroyed by a fire on January 5, 1983. A stone with a sun donated by the famous Paberžė monk Stanislovas was built in its place. The wooden barn of the manor still stands.
